Truve is led by Alison, a passionate and driven strength and conditioning specialist with over 20 years of experience. From competing as a top athlete in high school and the Junior Olympics to facing a career-ending injury, Alison understands the power of fitness on both personal and professional levels.Fueled by her own athletic background, Alison founded Truve to empower everyone, regardless of age or goals. Whether you're a weekend warrior or a seasoned athlete, Alison believes everyone is an athlete at heart. Truve offers a variety of programs to help you achieve your goals, from weight loss and injury rehabilitation to strength training and sports-specific conditioning. Alison's team of specialists share her dedication to helping others. This is the best fitness place I’ve been to, hands down. The Pilates alone is amazing; small classes with individually curated feedback. The personal trainings go hand in hand with those Pilates classes, and I am often encouraged to try out the others like free group yoga. I even bought a tool we used in class from Alison because it kicked my core’s ass so hard in class. The location is super convenient if you’re BARTing, biking, or driving. (Or walking like me.) I love the early classes so I can get my day started with energy, and there are showers you can use. The complimentary waters always save me, and everyone who comes is so nice. My favorite thing is that they push you enough. I didn’t think I could get such a great workout with my injury but these guys are pros!

I can’t say enough good things about truve fit. It’s one of those rare places that truly challenges you — physically and mentally — but in a way that’s motivating, supportive, and actually fun. Every session pushes you just beyond your comfort zone, and you walk out feeling stronger and accomplished. What really makes this studio special, though, is the people. The instructors are knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely invested in your progress. They create an environment that’s welcoming, energetic, and full of positive vibes. The community itself is fantastic — a great group of people who show up, work hard, and support each other. On a personal level, the impact has been significant. I feel stronger, more flexible, and far more energized in my day-to-day life. It’s helped me stay consistent with fitness and has genuinely improved my overall health and stamina. Truve Fit has become such an important part of my fitness journey. The space feels welcoming, focused, and thoughtfully run. You can tell there’s intention behind everything — from the programming to the coaching to the environment itself. The workouts are challenging in the best way, and the coaches truly care about form, safety, and individual progress. I never feel like just another person in the room — there’s real attention and encouragement. The gym itself is in a beautiful old building in downtown Oakland, right near BART and City Hall, and it’s surprisingly convenient to park as well. It feels grounded in the community and easy to access — which makes consistency that much easier. Owned by Alison Campbell — who is truly a tremendous asset to our community — Truve Fit reflects her integrity, strength, and care in every detail. It’s rare to find a gym that balances skill, strength, and community so well. I’m so grateful to train here.

Great variety of Pilates trainers. Classes are always fun, welcoming, and challenging. Instructors are able to accommodate any injuries or pains you may have to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable session. The owner, Alison, is super welcoming and always supportive.

They talk the talk and walk the walk! Originally found through ClassPass when I wasn't sure what gym I wanted to go to, ended up attending a few community classes and loved it so much that I invested in personal training. The sessions were great but I wasn't feeling a connection with the trainer, a quick message to the owner (Alison) about my conundrum gave me the confidence to ask for what I needed and she helped me get aligned with a different trainer/group which worked out great. Beyond just being a gym, the fact that this space is accessible to locals and Alison goes above and beyond to network with other local businesses is heartening in a time of too much capitalism. This is the kind of place you want to invest in because they know the value in investing in their community from the roots up.
